UK GOVERNMENT REQUIREMENTS
The UK government has announced that new EV charging requirements will come into force in England in 2022.
This will mean that this year every new home with associated parking must have an EV charging point. This will also include any residential buildings undergoing major renovation which has more than 10 parking spaces must have at least 1 charging point per dwelling with its associated parking.
All non residential buildings with more than 10 parking spaces must also have a minimum of 1 charging point and cable routes for 20% of the total number of spaces.
With the ban on sales of new petrol and diesel vehicles being brought forward from 2040 to 2035 our charging infrastructure must develop rapidly to remain ahead of organic demand, and to encourage this the new building regulations will help ensure that adequate charging facilities are available in developments with suitable parking.
